ZDNet Reports That Internet Gambling Shows The Third Highest Growth Rate
With so much going on in the “real world” bingo industry, it’s little surprise to many of us to learn that online bingo is facing a boom. This boom is undoubtedly, or at least partially, a result of the recent downturn in offline bingo popularity. People around the world are essentially being turned off offline bingo and turning on to online bingo.
Zdnet (one of the most popular online news sites) provides regular updates on statistics based on their blog visitors and the topics that are most popular. In the statistics for March and April 2008, and based on US Internet usage, Internet Gambling comes out third of the pile behind Radio Entertainment and Gay and Lesbian issues.
The increase of 14% is perhaps a little surprising considering the state of online gambling in America, although news that the anti-UIGEA is gaining cross party backing from and more Congressmen may help shirt the anti-gambling laws. Online bingo halls, though, have certainly seen increases in traffic with many new sites also being introduced and yet more currently under development.
This is obviously good news for online bingo players – the more sites, the greater the choice, and the better the competition. All in all it will ultimately mean a greater selection but also improved prizes and competitions across the board.
