Will the UK smoking ban affect UK bingo halls?
The UK smoking ban will render all public places smoke free after July 1st 2007. This means pubs, clubs and any area used by the general public - this includes land based bingo halls. Many people will welcome the ban and see it as a breath of fresh air. However, research by st.minivier has indicated that many players are not happy with the prospect of facing a smoke free bingo hall.
Their research has shown that one in three bingo club players will play less often. The research has also indicated that 63% of smokers will increase their spend online. This will result in one in ten bingo club players will stop playing in the clubs. This is good news for online bingo sites, but not so good for their land based counter parts.
However the initial research has also shown that many players will return to the smoke free halls due to the ban. This research relates mainly to the elderly players and non smokers.ÂÂ
There is a huge belief that the smoking ban will have a dramatic affect on land based bingo halls. But do not panic as there are lots of great online bingo sites to choose from. If you need to find a new bingo home then feel free to check out our new bingo review section.
