Play online bingo when on the plane

Filed under: Bingo News — 27 Nov 2007

Pretty soon passengers on Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, British Airways and Virgin Airlines will be able to play games while in mid air like online bingo as well as audio and video entertainment. With Virgin having its own online games portals, travelers can continue playing on this portal when flying. The other three airlines will be using 888.com as its betting provider.

This option was the outcome of the introduction of Texas Hold ‘Em by the US carrier, Delta Airlines last year. As this proved to be boring to travelers, other games will be made available to passengers like roulette, poker, slot games and craps. These in-flight games will not only be available to seasoned players, it will also be available to players on permitted sectors.

Don’t be surprised if some players get bitten by the bingo bug and continue playing online bingo or in the local bingo hall on returning home. This is quite normal when one gets the taste of bingo, more so if they had won some money from their online bingo game.

However British Airways and Singapore Airlines will stop the usage of these games on flights in and out of America, to follow US prohibitions against foreign gaming companies operating in USA. A study was conducted by the US Department of Transportation where it was found that United States carriers would split an extra $300 million in a year with gambling being permitted in both inward and outward flights.

Flight attendants expressed the fear of passengers turning to unruly behavior with other passengers or returning home with a minus bank account. To prevent this BA and other airlines have set low limits for first class passengers so that they don’t lose more than a few hundred dollars in a flight. Economy and business class passengers have an even lower limit.
