Finland To Open Its First Online Bingo Site
Finland’s state run gaming commission has awarded the opportunity to provide the platform and related services for a Finnish national online bingo to Boss Media and its parent company GTECH. The online gaming industry in Finland is managed and governed entirely by the state and only Veikkaus and two other companies are currently entitled to operate or advertise for Finnish players.
It is Veikkaus, who also currently manage the Finnish Lotto, that has chosen GTECH for the role. GTECH, and its various subsidiary companies, have been responsible for some major online gaming coups. They have also recently established the first legal sports lottery in Taiwan.
Lottomatica posted strong results for the first quarter of 2008, an announcement made at the same time as the news regarding the Finnish bingo site. Lottomatica is experiencing fairly serious international growth and the introduction of the first bingo website in Finland will only further bolster their already impressive resume.
GTECH creates software that is used by websites and companies around the world within the bingo and other gambling industries. While they largely concentrate on Lotto systems, they do also create bing software – the same software that will be used by the Finnish National Bingo site.
