Dead woman’s money stolen by bingo partner
Thinking that she would be a fish out of water in prison, the woman who had stolen from her dead bingo partner’s bank account had escaped a jail sentence the other day. However, Diane Jones of age 48 was ordered to pay 1,570 pounds as compensation to Maureen Board’s estate on pleading guilty to the theft at Cardiff Crown Court.
According to her prosecutor, Julian Greenwood, Mrs. Board had given Diane her bank code, and the pin number for her to withdraw money on her behalf. However instead of stopping this with the death of Maureen, Diane continued to withdraw cash after the death.
The defendant Mathew Cobbe said that it was Jone’s case that Mrs. Board had lent her 500 pounds of the money before her death last autumn. In response to all this, the Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Nicholas Cooke QC said that Jones should be thoroughly ashamed of herself.
According to her, this was disgraceful behavior. And it was because of this that a curfew order was imposed on Diane where while everyone else would be able to enjoy sunny evenings, she wouldn’t be able to. And in addition to this, she had to pay an additional 300 pounds for costs of the proceedings.
