Bingo.com has plans of growing out of UK

Filed under: Bingo News — 30 Jun 2008

It is but quite normal for a hobby or fad to catch on once it gains popularity amongst people. One of fads is the concept of online bingo gambling. Today, online bingo is one of the more popular games of the online gaming community.

You can find new bingo sites popping up all over the place; and the response of gamblers to this aspect of new sites has been rather strong. This is why bingo.com has been making preparations for expansion outside of the United Kingdom.

They have started by closing a private placement of over 2 million common shares at a rate of $0.30 per share. This is to raise money for their expansion operations. In fact, the proceeds they collect from the offering are to be used for funding their expansion outside of the United Kingdom market.

Bingo.com CEO, Tarnie Williams says that they intend to start a Spanish version of their site and to allow players to deposit money in different major currencies, to the site. This expansion program of bingo.com has come at the right time, when the online bingo playing community is on a growing spurge.

This is because there is a closing down of more and more bingo halls with the smoking laws making it difficult for them to survive. This has made online bingo the best alternative for bingo players where they can enjoy their game without leaving their homes.

Gala bingo drops out of National Bingo game

Filed under: Bingo News — 29 Jun 2008

The withdrawal of Gala Bingo from the National Bingo Game has come out as a surprising announcement. This is because in the field of bingo, National Bingo Game is taught to be the most exciting part of a bingo night out. Of course, it is because of the great prizes that the game offers.

In fact, with the National Bingo Game linking bingo halls across the nation, it has helped create the first bingo millionaires. This game has been playing fine since 1986 with the intention of making bingo more attractive in the competitive gambling industry.

The National Bingo Game is played twice a day, everyday of the year, except for Christmas Day. About 500 bingo clubs are linked to it, which has paid out over 1 billion pounds in prizes over the last 21 years.

With Gala Bingo owning 162 bingo clubs, a major portion of the UK bingo industry, the bingo association chief Paul Tallboys says that they are upset with this decision. Especially in this troubled times of the bingo industry.

It is said that it is better for bingo clubs to stick together. And with Gala breaking away to start their own business, it looks like they are disloyal to the bingo industry. Moreover, it is yet to be seen if the National Bingo Game can continue with a third of its members gone.

It is also to be seen if other bingo operators like Mecca and Independent clubs will be able to keep the ball rolling or intend to follow in Gala’s footsteps. The National Bingo Game pays about a million pounds as prize money every week, across the UK.

Even though the bingo industry is going through tough times with the double taxation and smoking ban cutting its revenues, about 3 million Brits play bingo at least twice a week.

New Domain Names To Cause Confusion?

Filed under: Bingo News — 29 Jun 2008

News of a major overhaul to the domain name system could see a serious change in online bingo sites. .com, and geographically related top level domains, have long been monitored, managed, and maintained by a single authority – ICANN, but recent reforms mean that this could be set to change with businesses and smaller registrars being able to offer their own domains.

Lawyers and other professionals have raised serious doubt over the move, and one of the reasons for this is the likely confusion that it will cause. In the UK, we currently expect websites to offer a .com or .co.uk domain name – the new changes could mean any top level domain. Bookmarking will almost certainly become a bigger factor as we can expect some of the larger networks to consider their own domains.

In reality, though, the changes will make little difference to the websites themselves. Bingo sites will still offer bingo games and online jackpots with the only real change being the URL or web address that we use to access them. Expect bingo.bng and similar sites to crop up when the changes are first made and always be wary of providing personal details and data to any site that you don’t recognise.
