Paramus Rotarians play Veterans Bingo
Rotarians from the Paramus Club meet together on Wednesday afternoons to play a game of veteran’s bingo.
They meet at the Veteran’s Home of Paramus, under the direction of Kevin Behnke to play Veteran’s bingo that is different from regular bingo.
It was Ken Sorenson who did the calling while his wife Gloria and others moved amongst both mobile and wheelchair bound occupants.
Those involved in helping ensure immobile vets heard and marked the right numbers were Marty Diamond, Roy Borgeson, Lee Rickenberg and club president.
Ciaffa, the paymaster explained that Veteran’s bingo was played in sets and not singular games. Here the set continues after the first bingo is announced and lasts for more card numbers called. With this, the problem of immobility was solved.
Others who circulated the floor to ensure that this occasion and game was a success were Ray Wells, Paramus Police Captain Kevin Smith, Linda Port, Chamber president Fred Rohdieck, Ed Lang, Jim Mangam and Frank Garcia.
Even Rotarian, and www.ParamusPost.com publisher Sam Stone attended the function to take pictures of the event.
Locating the hall where Veteran’s Bingo was held proved to be difficult to some like Rotarian Chip Philibosian. On asking for directions at the entry desk, you have to traverse a maze of passageways and nurse’s desks to reach the hall.
On asking for further directions in practically all nurse desks, will you be able to finally reach the hall. So I think the best solution for this lies in either Behnke or the Vet’s home supplying a maze map to all new participants!
